Qatar orders Iranian military and security officials to leave the country

Tehran. Middle East countries have now started taking action against Iranian attacks. Qatar has now ordered Iranian military and security officials to leave the country. 24 hours have been given for this. Iran has already come under the target of many countries for carrying out attacks in Gulf countries amid the war with America and Israel. It is reported that a major meeting of Muslim countries is also going to be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry wrote, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has handed an official note to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the country. It states that Qatar declares the Embassy’s Military Attache and Security Attache, as well as the entire staff of these two offices, as ‘persona non grata.’ Qatar demands that all these officials leave the country within a maximum of 24 hours.”

What is Persona Non Grata?
In terms of diplomacy, when a country refuses to allow a foreign official or officials to stay in its country or orders them to leave the country, they are declared ‘persona non grata’.

The ministry said the strike
was taken in response to Iran’s repeated targeting of Qatar and the open aggression against the State of Qatar, which violated Qatar’s sovereignty and security. It is a gross violation of the principles of international law, UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and the principles of good neighbourliness.

Qatar has also issued a warning
that if Iran continues this behavior, even more stringent measures will be taken. It also stated, “Qatar reserves its right to take all necessary steps to protect its sovereignty and security in accordance with the provisions of international law.”

Iran threatens several countries including Qatar
After the attack on its gas field, Iran has threatened to attack oil and gas infrastructure in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, this is not the first time that Iran has issued a threat. Iran has specifically threatened to target Saudi Arabia’s Samaref Refinery and its Jubail Petrochemical Complex. It has also threatened to attack the UAE’s Al Hassan Gas Field and petrochemical plants and a refinery in Qatar.
