Foreign ministers of Quad countries gathered in Manila, ASEAN’s role confirmed for the security of Indo-Pacific

QUAD Foreign Ministers Meeting: An important meeting of foreign ministers of the Quad group was held on Wednesday, 22 July 2026 in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. In this high-level dialogue, representatives of India, America, Japan and Australia discussed ways to strengthen peace, stability and international rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.

The main focus of the meeting was the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ‘ASEAN’ Reiterating our shared commitment to the unity of India and its central role in the region.

Who attended the meeting?

In the meeting, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi attended. Diplomats from the four countries said in unison that they are ASEAN’s ‘comprehensive strategic partner’ As are fully dedicated to ensuring the prosperity and security of the region.

Roadmap based on regional challenges

During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers closely analyzed the current challenges and future opportunities facing the Indo-Pacific region. This includes in particular the ‘ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific’ It was agreed to implement it practically.

Under this, new expansion will be given to partnership in the field of strengthening maritime security, curbing international crimes and important and emerging technologies.

Humanitarian cooperation will gain momentum

In the joint statement of the Quad countries, it was made clear that stability in the maritime sector is the cornerstone of the economic progress of the entire region. Along with security, emphasis was also laid on strengthening mutual coordination on important fronts like economic prosperity, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. The meeting comes at a time when the strength of supply chains and regional geopolitical conditions are at the center of global discussion.

Open Indo-Pacific resolution

The four countries once again called for a ‘free and open Indo-Pacific‘ shared his perspective. It was decided in the meeting that in future, the coordination of Quad with ASEAN countries will be further deepened to achieve these shared priorities. The results of this meeting can prove to be a new milestone towards the security and development of the Indo-Pacific region.
