Qualcomm company official's big statement, said – 600 MHz spectrum band is best for advanced telecom service.

New Delhi : A senior officer of semiconductor manufacturing company Qualcomm Technology has given a big statement about telecom service. In which he has said that smartphone ambient is the best option to support advanced telecom service in 600 MHz spectrum band.

It is estimated that operating mobile services in the 600 MHz band will improve the signal inside buildings even without any boosters or amplifiers. Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager (technology planning and advanced solutions) at Qualcomm Technologies, a maker of advanced processors for smartphones, said that by the time India decides to make these radio waves available for use, the smartphone ecology will be even further disrupted. It will get better.

ready to work on any part

While discussing the support available for the 600 MHz band in Qualcomm chipsets, Malladi said that it is actually quite good. Our transceivers already go up to 600 MHz. So there is no problem for us there. We are ready for business in any part of the world.”

Leader in chipset segment

Qualcomm's chipsets are mainly used in premium category smartphones. According to market research and analysis firm Counterpoint Research, Qualcomm led the chipset segment globally with 38 percent revenue share in the April-June quarter.

No bidder found

The central government had earmarked up to 40 MHz frequency waves in the 600 MHz spectrum band during the 2022 spectrum auction. But due to lack of equipment environment to support services in that band, no bidder was found.

This band was not included

After this, the government did not include the 600 MHz band in the spectrum auction held in June 2024. Malladi said the 600 MHz band is a premium property in the US and is used by telecom service provider T-Mobile in that country for nationwide coverage. It is estimated that even a single mobile tower in the 600 MHz band can send a mobile signal over a range of 65 kilometers whereas in the case of BSNL and Reliance Jio in the 700 MHz band this distance is about 25 kilometers. At the same time, the signal transmitted in the 1,800 MHz band, known as 2G spectrum, covers a distance of only 2.5 kilometers. This band was also used extensively for 4G spectrum.
