Quess Corp report: Abundance of jobs in IT sector, total demand crosses 18 lakh in 2025

New Delhi, 23 December. Hiring in the information technology (IT) sector in India is growing rapidly and is witnessing a strong demand for talent for Global Capability Centers (GCC) and emerging technologies. Quess Corp, India’s leading staffing company and one of the largest private sector employers, has given this information in a report.

50, More IT hiring focused on emerging digital capabilities

Quess Corp report said that the total demand for IT jobs in India has increased to 18 lakh in 2025 and it has seen an increase of 16 percent as compared to the previous year. Revealing a new trend, the report said that more than 50 percent of IT hiring is focused on emerging digital capabilities and the share of traditional tech skills is less than 10 percent of the total demand and is seeing a continuous decline. GCC is continuously promoting hiring in the IT sector and GCC’s share in the IT hiring market has increased to 27 percent, which was around 15 percent last year.

Product and SaaS firms also increased hiring selectively

Product and SaaS firms also selectively increased hiring, while IT services and consulting recorded marginal growth, according to the report. However, hiring at startups has dropped to low single digits due to a lack of funding. “Overall, hiring demand remained strongly tilted towards productivity-ready talent, with mid-career professionals (4-10 years of experience) making up 65 per cent of total hiring compared to 50 per cent in 2024,” the report said.

IT hiring mostly focused on tier-1 cities

Entry-level hiring accounts for 15 percent of the total demand, the report said. Hiring patterns show that demand for experienced professionals is highest across the sector. IT hiring is mostly concentrated in tier-1 cities and these account for 88-90 per cent of the total demand in 2025. Additionally, the average time taken for the recruitment process has increased to 45-60 days.

Whereas for specific specializations like AI/ML and cyber security, the time taken for the recruitment process increased to 75-90 days, reflecting tougher competition and more rigorous assessment processes.
