R Ashwin issues clarification on his father’s humiliation by team management remark
R Ashwin was forced to issue a clarification after his father claimed that the player retired from international cricket due to humiliation by the team management. His father’s statement put former captains, coaches, and the current team management under the scanner. The off-spinner urged everyone to leave his father alone.
The bowler announced his retirement after the third Test between India and Australia in Brisbane. He was present with Rohit Sharma in the press conference and, without taking a lot of time, made the decision public.
His father was shocked by the sudden call and said that his son was facing humiliation.
“The sudden retirement was shocking. I came to know about it at the last moment. The continuous humiliation forced him to quit. I don’t know what he was thinking as he just announced,” his father told News18.
Reacting to the user on X, Ashwin wrote:
“My dad isn’t media trained, dey father enna da ithelaam. I never thought you would follow this rich tradition of “dad statements.” Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone.”
