R Ashwin puts an end to Virat Kohli Vs Babar Azam with this massive statement, Check what the veteran Spinner said

In the event that Babar Azam was found not to be part of Pakistan’s second Test against England, Fakhar Zaman noted that if it were Virat Kohli, he would not have been dropped even if he was out of form. The last time Babar scored a fifty plus in Test cricket was in December 22, 2022, and in the last 17 Test innings that he has played, his average is only 20.70. In his last eight innings at home where others have feasted on runs, Babar has a dismal average of 18.75.

A similar line of argument was put forth on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel, and he too put something very succinctly.

“Of course, he will make runs if opprtunity is provided. There is class, so be it. I think this controversy needs to be closed forever. First – and most importantly – there’s no comparing Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. ashwin spoke in his youtube channel.

“I apologise; I express my apologies, I mean I consider Babar Azam as a great player but please don’t compare him with the great Virat Kohli. Virat’s exploits, credentials are in a different plane than even wildest of imaginations. This man treks not only different geographies, also different generations and even pressure situations, he has performed heists no other cricketer has done in the history of the sport. To my understanding, at this point, if even someone comes to an approximate distance, it is Joe Root only in Test cricket.”

About to face England in the second Test, Pakistan aims to stop the torture of winless Test matches for nearly two years. They were defeated in the first Test but managed to post a competitive total in the first innings. Also, it is worth noting that the last time Pakistan won a Test match at home was in 2022. They have played ten Test matches, winning two, losing six and drawing four out of those.

In the opening match, England achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first team to win the first innings of more than 200 runs after leaking more than 550 runs in that innings. We witnessed a historic event as England recorded 823/7, the fourth highest innings score in Test cricket, and the highest in the 21st century, when Pakistan for the first time lost even after scoring more than 500 in the first innings and the match was won by an innings.

In the run-up to the second Test, the cricketing community was shocked when Babar along with pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah were dropped for two remaining Tests. Babar scored 30 runs in the first innings and five runs in the second innings of the match. He was dismissed lbw by Chris Woakes in the first innings and was caught behind by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith off the bowling of Gus Atkinson in the second innings.
