R Ashivan wants to see this IPL player in playing-11 against Afghanistan
Ashwin said- My eyes are fixed on Harsh Dubey, I am curious to know whether he gets a chance or not
New Delhi. India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is hopeful that left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey will make his debut in the longer format of the game in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan on June 6 in Mullanpur as he has consistently performed well in domestic cricket. There is a fight for a place in the Indian team between Dubey and Manav Suthar while experienced spinners like Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar are expected to get a place in the playing eleven.
“I have my eyes set on Harsh Dubey and I am curious to know whether he gets a chance or not,” Ashwin told Geostar. We will have to wait and see whether the team chooses Manav Suthar or Harsh Dubey. But Dubey has performed brilliantly in domestic cricket and hence I have special interest in him.
He said, “Dubey had also performed well in the IPL and hence he seems to have the upper hand. I am really looking forward to seeing Dubey make his debut. The former Indian spinner has also expressed hope from captain Shubman Gill that he will repeat his batting performance abroad on home ground as well.
He said, Gill performed well as a captain and batsman in the England tour. He scored runs there in difficult conditions and handled the pressure well. I hope that he will leave his special mark as a captain and batsman in the home series also.
