Raj Shandilya accused of concept theft, producer Sanjay Tiwari sent notice – Obnews

Producer Sanjay Tiwari has accused writer-director Raj Shandilya of stealing the concept of his film 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'. Tiwari says that the story of this film is based on his script 'Sex Hai To Life Hai…?' Which he registered with the Screen Writers Association in 2015.

This is not the first time that Raj Shandilya has been accused of stealing a film's story. Most of his stories have faced this problem. Earlier, his film 'Dreamgirl' had also faced similar allegations, when film producer Toprani had alleged similarity in the context of his film 'Call for Run'.

Along with this, writer Jitendra Gianchandani had claimed that Raj Shandilya had stolen the concept and story of his film 'Janhit Mein Jaari' from the script written by him. He, along with Gautam Prasad Shaw, wrote the story titled 'Condom Pyaar Ki Pehli Sharit', which was registered with the Screen Writers Association in 2019.

Not only this, his own childhood friend writer Ankur Shukla had also accused him of stealing the story of the film. Shukla had filed a complaint with the Jhansi police to stop the shooting of Shandilya's film 'Love Ki Arranged Marriage', claiming that Shandilya had stolen his story.

Now seeing this the question arises whether Raj Shandilya always writes his stories by copying from somewhere or the other. Due to such allegations, his upcoming projects may also be affected.

Regarding 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video', Sanjay Tiwari said, “When we saw the promo, we realized that Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is based on the same subject. We have sent a legal notice to the makers of the film and are waiting for a proper response. If we do not get a response in the next few days, we will take appropriate action.”

This controversy has raised concerns about the film, especially because Tiwari's script idea is already officially registered. Tiwari stressed the importance of originality in filmmaking and said he was committed to protecting his work.

Gulbanu Khan, who is the writer of Sanjay Tiwari's script, also responded to the issue. He said, “It is surprising to hear that someone stole our ideology like this. The central idea of any film is very important, like the foundation stone. Without it, the story and the film cannot be imagined. This is definitely a serious issue in Bollywood. Bala and Ujda Chaman, released in 2019, also had the issue of central idea theft for which the producers had to go to court.

The video of the film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh, starring Rajkummar Rao and Trupti Dimri in the lead roles, is scheduled to release on 11 October 2024. Due to this controversy, the question now arises whether Shandilya will clarify his position or the matter will be settled through legal processes.
