Rahul-Priyanka will open a front against the Center tomorrow, Congress will protest inside and outside the Parliament for this reason

New Delhi: The Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, will hold protests both inside and outside Parliament against the alleged lack of central assistance to Wayanad landslide survivors. Party leader and Kalpetta MLA T Siddiqui has termed the Centre's alleged reluctance to provide financial assistance to people in landslide-affected areas as an 'inhuman' approach.

Kalpetta MLA T Siddiqui said that apart from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, as a local MLA, I myself had submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit soon after the tragedy, seeking assistance for relief and rehabilitation of landslide survivors. Was done. He alleged that though the Prime Minister had promised full support, Modi or the central government led by him has not done even one percent justice with respect to that assurance.

He said that this is an inhuman approach towards those who have suffered such a huge tragedy. He said that the Congress party will intensify its protest against this inside and outside the Parliament. Siddiqui told reporters in New Delhi that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi as well as Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi will lead the protest. Both the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) have urged the central government to declare the landslide disaster a national disaster and immediately seek relief and rehabilitation of the survivors. Have been demanding to provide necessary assistance as soon as possible.

The state recently witnessed a political controversy following a recent letter from the Centre, which said that under the existing guidelines of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), any disaster can be declared a 'National Disaster Response Force'. There is no provision to declare 'disaster'. The disaster that struck Wayanad on July 30 had devastated parts of Attamala as well as large parts of three villages – Punchirimattam, Churalamala and Mundakkai. According to the government, 231 people lost their lives in this deadly disaster, while 47 people are still missing.(With agency inputs)
