“Rahul Dravid is a great dancer”: S Sreesanth
Former India pacer S. Sreesanth recently reflected on the social side of team life before IPL 2026 begins. The new season is set to start on March 28 in Bengaluru, where reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Speaking about the atmosphere during his playing days, Sreesanth said several players would regularly stay up late for parties, with only a handful of senior members keeping away. He added that the group would occasionally encourage Rahul Dravid to join them, despite his reputation for being disciplined and low-key.
“Back in our days, it was usually the other way around, two or three would rest while the rest of us partied. Sachin paaji would go to bed early, and Rahul Dravid sometimes as well. Ganguly would always stay in the room. We would even try to get Rahul Dravid to join us. I remember my first away series, when we beat Pakistan in Pakistan under his captaincy. That day, we all had a great time together,” he said on Cheeky Singles.
Sreesanth also revealed a lesser-known side of Dravid, saying the former India captain could actually dance quite well.
“Rahul bhai is actually a great dancer. And of course, I’m there — nobody does it like me.”
Having played alongside him for India and later for Rajasthan Royals in the 2012 and 2013 IPL seasons, Sreesanth said he got to see the other side of Dravid.
He also recalled a funny moment from the inaugural IPL final in 2008 between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Sreesanth admitted he turned up at a post-match celebration despite not being officially invited, believing he had a chance to finish as the tournament’s top wicket-taker.
“After the 2008 IPL final between Rajasthan and Chennai, there was a party. I wasn’t actually invited, but I went hoping to win the Purple Cap. Shane Warne and other legends were celebrating, so I joined in. I thought that if Tanvir didn’t take enough wickets, I might end up with the Purple Cap,” he said.
In the end, he ended the season with 19 wickets, while Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir claimed the Purple Cap with 22. Sreesanth said he was thrilled to celebrate Rajasthan’s title win alongside Shane Warne, who led the team to that memorable triumph.
