As a result, the party decided that no Lok Sabha MP would contest the assembly elections, dashing the hopes of many leaders.

The meeting also observed that Venugopal’s influence was prominent in ticket distribution, with nearly 60% of the candidates belonging to his group. Other leaders like Ramesh Chennithala and V D Satheesan also got some shares. It is notable that Shashi Tharoor did not play any special role in this process.
