Rahul Gandhi attacked the government regarding MSP, said – Why is the promise made to farmers still incomplete?

Country. Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has once again raised questions on the agricultural policies of the Central Government. Raising the issue of Minimum Support Price (MSP) through a Facebook post, he said that the government is avoiding giving a clear answer on the promises made to the farmers. Rahul Gandhi said that Congress will continue to raise its voice for the rights of farmers from Parliament to the streets.

Question of implementing C2 + 50% MSP-
Rahul Gandhi wrote in his post that he had asked a direct question to the government in the Lok Sabha as to why the promise of legal MSP of C2 + 50% made to farmers in the year 2021 has not been implemented yet. He alleged that instead of giving a direct answer to this question, the government only repeated its old MSP policy in Parliament.

He said that this formula is actually related to the recommendations of the committee headed by MS Swaminathan, in which it was said to decide the MSP by adding 50 percent profit on the total cost of farming (C2).

Pressure on states to end MSP bonus-
Rahul Gandhi also shared a copy of the government’s reply and said that the government has admitted that it pressured the states to end the MSP bonus. According to him, this was justified by citing ‘national priorities’, whereas it directly impacts the farmers.

Questions also raised on trade deal with America-
Rahul Gandhi also expressed concern about a possible trade agreement with America. He said that the government is talking about reducing non-trade barriers. He raised the question whether this meant weakening the MSP and government procurement system.

Question on the intentions of the government-
At the end of his statement, Rahul Gandhi said that the Modi government does not want to keep the promise made to the farmers. He alleged that the government is ready to compromise Indian agricultural interests for its own selfish interests.

Rahul Gandhi said that Congress will continue to fight inside and outside the Parliament for the rights of farmers and protection of MSP.
