Rahul Gandhi attacks PM Modi says democracy dies when power starts considering itself a nation

‘Peaceful protest is not a crime, it is the soul of democracy and asking questions strengthens democracy.’-Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi News: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi once again targeted the Modi government. He alleged that dissent was being criminalized and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should understand that India is not North Korea. When power starts considering itself a nation, democracy is murdered.

The Congress MP said peaceful protest is not a crime but the soul of democracy, and asking questions strengthens democracy. Rahul Gandhi wrote on ‘X’ that today in India, under the rule of ‘compromised PM’, peaceful protest is being considered the biggest “crime”. The world’s largest democracy is gradually being pushed in a direction where dissent is presented as treason and asking questions as a conspiracy.

He further said that think, no matter what the issue is, if you raise your voice against the government in a constitutional manner, then lathi charge, trial and jail are almost certain. The youth troubled by the paper leak raised their voice for their future, but their answer was in the form of sticks. The proud women wrestlers of the country demanded an impartial investigation into the serious allegations against the influential leader of BP. Their call was defamed, the movement was crushed and they were forcibly removed from the streets.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that when there was a peaceful demonstration at India Gate in support of the rape victim, the demand for justice was stopped by the system considering it an “inconvenience”. He said, “When Youth Congress peacefully protested against trade agreements that were against the interest of the country, they were arrested by calling them “anti-national”. When common people stood up against poisonous air, their environmental concerns were also suppressed by calling them ‘politics’.

Rahul Gandhi claimed that when farmers protested for their rights, they were branded as anti-nationals and the only means of communication were tear gas, rubber bullets, water cannons and sticks. He said that when the tribals stood up for their rights to water, forests and land, they were also looked at with suspicion, as if demanding their rights was a crime.
