After the racial murder of MBA student Angel Chakma, Rahul Gandhi came out in support, said- BJP is spreading hatred among the countrymen.
New Delhi. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday strongly condemned the racial murder of Tripura student Angel Chakma in Dehradun. Rahul Gandhi accused BJP of normalizing hatred. Raising voice against the brutal attack on Angel Chakma, Rahul Gandhi urged people to think and confront and not become a dead society. This comment of Rahul Gandhi comes after the attack on MBA student Angel Chakma and his brother Michael Chakma in Dehradun by a group of miscreants with knives and other sharp weapons.

Let us tell you that on December 9, Angel Chakma was assaulted and he died during treatment in the hospital. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha said in a post on X that what happened to Angel Chakma and his brother Michael in Dehradun is a terrible hate crime. Hate does not arise overnight. For years this is being served daily especially to our youth through toxic content and irresponsible talk. This is being normalized by the hate-mongering leadership of the ruling BJP. He further said that India is built on respect and unity and not on fear and abuse. We are a country of love and diversity. We should not become a dead society that silently watches our fellow Indians being targeted. We must think and face what we are allowing our country to become.

Rahul Gandhi further expressed solidarity with the Chakma family and the people of the Northeast. He said that my condolences are with the Chakma family and the people of Tripura and the North-East. We are proud to call you our fellow Indian brothers and sisters. Five people have already been arrested in connection with this incident. Two of these accused are minors and have been sent to Juvenile Reform Home. Police are continuously conducting raids to arrest the absconding accused. A reward of Rs 25 thousand has been declared on all. A police team has also been sent to Nepal in search of the absconding accused. Giving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police (City) Pramod Kumar said that this incident took place on the evening of December 9 in Premnagar Police Station area of Dehradun. Kumar said that two students from Tripura, Angel Chakma and his brother Michael Chakma lived near Nanda Chowki in Premnagar police station area. The incident occurred on the evening of the 9th, when he had gone to Selaqui for some work. He told that both of them had a fight with some local youth and another youth from North-East. A fight broke out between them, during which they were reportedly attacked with knives and other sharp objects. Due to this he got seriously injured. His brother took him to the hospital and later a case was registered. The official confirmed that Angel Chakma died during treatment two days ago. The section of murder has been added to the case.
