Let us tell you that the director of the central agency Central Bureau of Investigation is elected by a three-member panel. The Chairman of this panel is the Prime Minister, while the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India or any Supreme Court judge nominated by him join this panel.

Why is the selection process not transparent?

Rahul Gandhi accused the government that the necessary records of the candidates were not presented before the selection committee on time. Self-appraisal reports and 360-degree reports of the candidates were not provided to them. On the selection process, Rahul Gandhi says that for the first time during the meeting itself, he was asked to check the records of 69 candidates, which is practically impossible.

What did Rahul say in the letter written to PM?

According to Rahul Gandhi, hiding information without any legal basis is like making a mockery of the selection process. Rahul Gandhi believes that all this was done so that only the candidate already decided by the government could be selected.

In the second part of the letter sent to Prime Minister Modi, the Leader of Opposition has adopted a strict tone. Rahul Gandhi wrote that by depriving the selection committee of important information, the government has turned it into a mere formality. Rahul Gandhi said that the leader of the opposition is not a rubber stamp who blindly approves every decision of the government.
