New Delhi. The Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill, 2026 has been passed in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. It has been introduced in the Lok Sabha today. There is a possibility of it passing easily from here also. At the same time, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has put the central government in the dock regarding the CAPF bill. He has alleged that the government is overturning the decision of the Supreme Court through this bill.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that if Congress comes to power in the upcoming general elections, the CAPF Bill 2026 will be repealed. Rahul Gandhi posted a video on X and mentioned about his meeting with CRPF Assistant Commandant Ajay Malik. He told that Ajay Malik had lost one of his legs in an IED blast during a Naxalite encounter and risked everything to protect the country.

Rahul Gandhi said that despite more than 15 years of loyal service – no promotion, no right to lead his own force. Because all the top posts are reserved for IPS officers. This is not just the pain of one officer, this is institutional injustice being done to lakhs of CAPF soldiers.

He further said that these soldiers are deployed on the borders. Fight terrorism and Naxalism, celebrate democracy and make elections safe. But when it comes to their rights and respect, the system turns its back. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said that CAPF soldiers themselves are against this discrimination. Even the Supreme Court has raised questions on this system. Yet the present government is intent on making this injustice legally permanent.

Government is overturning the decision of Supreme Court: Rahul Gandhi

On CAPF Bill, the Congress MP said that you will be surprised to know that no paramilitary force in India has been led by an officer who has risen from lower positions in his own paramilitary forces. There is no paramilitary force whose leadership has emerged from within the force. The top leadership is imposed on the paramilitary forces. This is completely wrong. We have opposed it and the Supreme Court has also opposed it.

He said that the government is once again overturning the decision of the Supreme Court. This is the biggest issue for CAPF. I don’t understand how you can protect the morale of an organization that cannot put any of its own people in leadership positions. What the government has done is unjust. I don’t understand why the government is doing this.

Government does not want me to speak on this bill: Congress MP

He said that there could be some reasons behind this. Maybe there are elections these days. They brought this bill on the same day when I was on a tour of Assam. I sent a message to the government requesting them to postpone this bill for a day or two, but they refused. They do not want me to speak on this bill in Parliament. Congress stands with all paramilitary forces, and when voted to power, we will bring them to justice.
