Rahul Gandhi will blow the election bugle in Jharkhand, will address the Constitution Honor Conference in Ranchi tomorrow

New Delhi : Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will go on Saturday to sharpen the election campaign of the party and the alliance in view of the Jharkhand Assembly elections. There he will also address the Constitution Honor Conference in Ranchi.

The Election Commission of India on Tuesday announced the schedule of Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections. According to the Election Commission, elections for the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly of the state are to be held on November 13 and 20, while in Maharashtra, elections will be held in a single phase on November 20. A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to vote in Jharkhand and these include 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters. There are 11.84 lakh first-time voters in the state. Counting of votes will take place in both the states on November 23.

Earlier, the Congress party had appointed BK Hariprasad, Gaurav Gogoi and Mohan Markam as senior coordinators for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. “The Honorable Congress President has appointed the following leaders as senior coordinators of AICC for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand with immediate effect,” said a notice issued by the party, signed by organization general secretary KC Venugopal.

BK Hariprasad is a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council and a former Rajya Sabha MP. Gaurav Gogoi is the deputy leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha. He represents Jorhat constituency. Mohan Markam is a former minister in the Government of Chhattisgarh and former President of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee from June 2019 to July 2023. He represented Kondagaon assembly constituency.

At present, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the largest and ruling party in the state, represented by 30 MLAs. Bharatiya Janata Party has 25 MLAs while Congress has 16.

Congress and JMM have announced their alliance for the elections, seat sharing will be finalized soon. Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had hit out at the BJP, claiming that the party has looted the state for more than 20 years.

“In December 2019, with the blessings of the great people of Jharkhand, I took over the reins of the state,” Soren said in a post on Twitter. My only objective was to water the tree of Jharkhand and strengthen its roots. BJP looted this tree with both hands for 20 years. Drought it out.”

He also highlighted completion of 100 days since coming out of jail and taking charge as CM again. “Today marks 100 days of his coming back from jail and taking charge of the state. Also, yesterday he asked the people of Jharkhand to contribute in every sphere of their lives.
