Rahul Gandhi’s question: Does the Prime Minister support the assassination of any head of state?
New Delhi. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appealed to the Indian government to make its stand morally clear on the Iran war and the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi supports the assassination of any head of state. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha also claimed that India’s reputation is falling across the world due to the Prime Minister’s “silence”.
He also says that both the US and Israeli attacks on Iran and the Iranian attacks on several Gulf countries should be condemned. Rahul Gandhi posted on ‘X’, “The growing hostility between America, Israel and Iran is pushing a sensitive region towards wider conflict. Crores of people, including approximately one crore Indian citizens, are facing uncertainty. Security concerns are real and attacks that violate sovereignty will only escalate the crisis, he said. Unilateral attacks on Iran as well as Iran’s attacks on other West Asian countries must be condemned.
Violence begets violence, dialogue and restraint are the only path to peace.” He stressed that India must have a morally clear stance. The former Congress president said, “We must have the courage to speak clearly in defense of international law and human life. Our foreign policy is based on sovereignty and peaceful resolution of disputes and should remain consistent.” Rahul Gandhi said, ”Prime Minister Modi should speak. Does he support the assassination of a head of state as a way of defining the world order?” He claimed that now India’s credibility in the world is being diminished due to this silence.
