Raid the premises of former mining officer, CBI found 65 lakh cash and jewelery
In the illegal mining case, CBI has seized cash worth more than Rs 13 lakh and jewelery worth about Rs 52 lakh from former District Mining Officer of Sahibganj Vibhuti Kumar during a raid in Jharkhand. Giving information, officials said that the agency had started a search operation at 20 places.
In which raids were also conducted on the premises of Pankaj Mishra, a former aide of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, whose name is also among the accused named in the FIR. Officials said CBI teams have seized Rs 75 lakh so far during the operation, including the amount seized from the premises of Vibhuti Kumar.

Apart from cash and jewellery, the CBI has also seized investments worth Rs 11 lakh, documents related to seven properties worth crores of rupees and fixed deposit receipts worth about Rs 10 lakh from Kumar's premises, he said. The agency had registered the case on November 20, 2023, on the instructions of the Jharkhand High Court.
Ranchi branch of CBI has named Pankaj Mishra, Pavitra Kumar Yadav, Rajesh Yadav, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Bachchu Yadav, Sanjay Yadav and Suvesh Mandal in the FIR registered on November 20 last year. According to the central agency, these accused are allegedly involved in theft and illegal mining of stones from Lemon Pahad in Sahibganj.
A CBI spokesperson said, 'During the investigation it was revealed that large-scale illegal mining activities in Sahibganj district have caused huge loss to the government, mainly due to non-payment of royalty and violation of mining laws.'
Kalpana Soren ate Kharna Prasad in Gandeya, bowed before Chhathi Maiya.
He said that the premises of those suspects whose roles have come to light during the investigation are being searched. He said that investigation revealed that the accused and some organizations were allegedly involved in this entire incident.
The Jharkhand High Court had directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the conduct of the accused named by the Sahibganj police as well as the conduct of petitioner Bijay Hansda, who had sought withdrawal of the writ petition.
The court issued this order on the petition of Hansda, in which it was alleged that for the last two and a half years, the stone mafia has been doing illegal mining in connivance with the government officials including the mining officials of their district.
