Rail accident: Fire broke out in AC bogie of Trivandrum-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, passengers narrowly escaped.

Kota, 17 May. There was a stir in train number 12431 Rajdhani Express going from Thiruvananthapuram to Hazrat Nizamuddin on Thursday when the B-1 coach of the train suddenly caught fire. The accident occurred on the down track between Luni Richha (LNR) and Vikramgarh Alot (VMA) stations under Kota division of West Central Railway. However, due to the alertness of the railway staff, all the passengers were evacuated safely in time, due to which a major accident was averted.

According to West Central Railway, as soon as information about the fire was received, the power supply to the Overhead Equipment (OHE) was immediately cut off for safety reasons. After this the affected B-1 coach was detached from the train. Senior railway officials and employees immediately reached the accident site and along with fire fighters started controlling the fire. There is no news of any casualty or injury to any passenger or railway employee in this incident.

Due to this accident, rail traffic on this route was partially affected and train number 12955 was stopped at Mahidpur Road (MEP) station. According to the railway administration, the track will soon be cleaned and traffic will be restored. At present the cause of the fire is being investigated.
