Udhampur:The trial run on the Katra-Budgam railway track of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) was completed on Sunday as the trial train comprising 18 coaches left Katra railway station at 8 am for Kashmir. “The trial train with 18 coaches has now reached Budgam and with this the final trial run on USBRL has been completed,” railway officials monitoring the trial run said here. Advertisement The ambitious USBRL was completed at Rs 41,000 crore. The track is 326 km long, of which 111 km is in tunnels, including the T-49 tunnel, 12.77 km long, which is the longest railway tunnel in the country. Advertisement Indian Railways has built the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab River in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The iconic Chenab Bridge is 1,315 meters long,

Whose arch is 467 meters and is at a height of 359 meters above the river level. Chenab Railway Bridge is a steel and concrete arch bridge, located between Bakkal and Kauri in Reasi district of Jammu division, carrying a single-track railway line. The bridge spans the Chenab River at a height of 359 meters (1,178 ft) above the river, making it the world's highest rail bridge and the world's tallest arch. It is built between Sangaldan Railway Station and Reasi Railway Station. Indian Railways has also built its first cable-stayed bridge over Anji Khad. The bridge has a deck 331 meters above the river bed and a main pylon at a height of 193 metres. The bridge over the Anji Khad River, which swells every monsoon season, is supported by a single arch, a large steep tower-like structure that rises 1,086 feet above the river bed, equivalent to the height of a 77-story building .

Being surrounded by mountain peaks on both sides, the construction site is exposed to waves and strong winds. The entire USBRL is the most challenging task successfully completed by Indian Railways. This is probably the most challenging rail link ever built in the world over such a long distance across dangerous mountains, rivers and difficult topography and weather. USBRL will promote horticulture, agriculture, tourism, trade and education of students and will also make travel between Kashmir and the rest of the country easier and cheaper for the average citizen. This project is one of the most powerful infrastructures to integrate Jammu and Kashmir with other parts of the country. Vande Bharat train will run between Katra and Baramulla on the same day as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate, the final date of inauguration is yet to be officially announced.
