Railway Recruitment 2024-25: 1.2 lakh+ vacancies, calendar released. job opportunities
Indian Railways has started the recruitment process for a total of more than 1.2 lakh vacancies in the year 2024 and 2025, which includes both technical and non-technical vacancies. To increase transparency, Railways has released the recruitment calendar so that candidates can get clear information about the dates of examinations and applications.
Railway Recruitment 2024–25: Indian Railways has started the recruitment process for a total of 1,20,579 vacancies in the year 2024 and 2025, providing huge employment opportunities to the youth across the country. This information has been given through the recently released notifications by the Railway Ministry, which includes vacancies of different categories ranging from technical to non-technical. According to the figures given in the Parliament, such a large number of recruitment had never happened before. To ensure a transparent selection process, Railways has also released the Recruitment Calendar so that the candidates can prepare easily and get timely information.
Notifications released in 2024–2025
According to the Railway Ministry, 10 major recruitment notifications were issued in the year 2024, in which the recruitment process is going on for 91,116 vacancies. Similarly, 7 notifications have been issued for 2025, through which recruitment will be done on 38,463 vacancies. The total vacancies for both the years have crossed 1.2 lakh, opening up vast career opportunities for the youth.
Railways says that this time the recruitment calendar has also been released, due to which the entire process will be more transparent and time bound. Candidates are getting clear information about the examinations, application dates and selection procedures, making it easier to prepare.
On which vacancies is recruitment taking place?
This mega recruitment of Indian Railways includes both technical and non-technical vacancies. This includes Assistant Public Pilot (ALP), Technician, RPF Sub-Inspector and Constable, Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent, Paramedical Staff, NTPC Various Categories, Ministerial and Isolated Categories and Level-1 posts such as Track Maintainer and Assistant.
Examinations are being conducted in various schools for recruitment to these posts. Railways claims that this time the selection process has been expedited, giving priority to transparency and efficiency. For lakhs of applicants this opportunity brings a huge opportunity for employment and a stable career.
Recruitment pattern in the last 20 years
According to data given in Parliament by the Railway Minister, between 2004 and 2014, the Railways had recruited around 4 lakh candidates. Similarly, between 2014 and 2025 this number has increased to 5 lakh 8 thousand. The government says the aim is to fill all the vacancies in a timely manner and make the operations of the Railways more effective.
