Rain, snowfall and severe cold have been recorded over the hilly and plain regions of North India, including Delhi-NCR. The effect of climate change is clearly felt by the drop in temperature. Delhi-NCR witnessed cloudy conditions from Thursday morning and light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers occurred at many parts till evening. Fresh snowfall has occurred in the higher parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, adding to the chill. The effect of this is felt in the plains as well.

Meanwhile, an intense westerly system will remain active over the hilly region during the next 24 to 48 hours, which will cause severe weather conditions in the higher parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Met department forecast. During this period, winds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour and thunderstorms and snowfall are expected. Meanwhile, due to the influence of this system, cloud movement is continuing over North India.

3 to 5 degree drop in temperature in Rajasthan

The weather in Jammu and Kashmir has completely changed. Due to the influence of a strong westerly wind, rain and snow fall in most parts of the valley. With the drop in temperature, the cold has returned. Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, thundershowers and rain are likely over parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Shekhawati and Kota divisions during the next two days. Due to the changing climate in the state, the maximum temperature has decreased by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.
