Chances of heavy rain in the next 4 to 5 days Rain Alert
According to India Meteorological Department, good rains will continue in many areas including Central India for the next four to five days. Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely over many areas of West Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, South Gujarat, Konkan and Central Maharashtra till July 6.
The Meteorological Department said that monsoon has advanced in some parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. At the same time, favorable conditions are being created for its progress in the remaining areas of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
Most affected in these states
Heavy to extremely heavy rain may occur at many places in West Madhya Pradesh on July 4. Apart from this, good rainfall is expected to continue in Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh (Rain Alert). In Eastern India, there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Alert in West and South India also
Heavy rain forecast has also been issued in South Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Saurashtra Kutch. There is a possibility of waterlogging and flood like situation in the low lying areas of these areas.
In South India, rain is also expected to continue in Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep. At many places, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.
Weather of Delhi and North India
There is a possibility of cloudy sky and light rain throughout the day in Delhi NCR. Winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour with thunderstorms and up to 50 kilometers per hour in gusts.
Rain is expected to continue in many areas of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Western Uttar Pradesh (Rain Alert). There may be heavy rain in East Rajasthan for the next few days.
Meteorological Department’s advice for farmers
The Meteorological Department has asked farmers to make arrangements to drain excess water from the fields in areas of heavy rainfall. Do not leave the post-harvest produce in the open and keep it in a safe place.
Do not allow waterlogging in paddy nurseries, vegetables and horticulture crops. In areas with strong winds, support bananas, papayas and other fruit plants and keep animals in a safe place. In the districts where warning of excessive rainfall is in force, it has been advised to postpone new sowing and other agricultural work till the weather becomes normal.
