Big news for the passengers of Chhattisgarh, now bedrolls will be available in sleeper class also, know how much charge will have to be paid.

Raipur Bedroll Service: Travelers of Chhattisgarh are going to get great facilities during their journey. On the lines of Chennai Division, Raipur Railway Division has also planned to provide bedrolls (sheet and pillow) to the passengers during sleeper class travel. To make this scheme effective, discussion on ideation and planning has started with the officials of Chennai Railway Division. After the planning becomes effective, passengers will get bedroll facility in sleeper class also. However, passengers will have to pay extra money for this.

Actually, Chennai Division of Southern Railway Zone had already announced to start bedroll service. Under this, sleeper class passengers will also be given clean, sanitized bedsheet and pillow. This facility will be made available in trains in Chennai division from January 1, 2026.

Bedroll will be available in sleeper class

Let us tell you that till now bedroll facility was provided only in AC coaches. In this, passengers were given a sheet, pillow, blanket and hand towel. Its charge was included in the ticket price itself. But, now for the first time, bedrolls will also be given to sleeper class passengers by the Railways. However, passengers in sleeper class will have to pay extra charge for this service.

Senior DCM Awadhesh Kumar Trivedi said that Raipur division is also planning like Chennai division. SECR trains are being targeted in the initial stage. Trains have also been marked. This facility will start in the new year.

How much will be charged?

According to Chennai Division, to avail this facility, passengers will be able to get a bedroll set by paying the coach attendant. This will not be included in the ticket. Different rates have been fixed for this. It is possible that the Chennai model will be implemented in Raipur division. If this happens, passengers will get this facility in sleeper class for Rs 50.

Pilot project will start in 10 trains

This facility will be implemented in 10 trains in the initial phase as a pilot project in Chennai division. If this model is successful, Railways can extend it to the national level also. The same model will be implemented in the test phase in Raipur division also.
