Raipur Municipal Corporation gives final warning to property tax defaulters, if tax is not paid by March 31, attachment action will be taken

Raipur: Raipur Municipal Corporation has tightened its stance regarding property tax collection in the last days of the financial year. The corporation administration has issued a final warning to the big defaulters of the city and made it clear that if the outstanding tax is not paid by March 31, then strict action like attachment and sealing of the property will be taken. This step is being taken with the aim of increasing revenue collection and speeding up the development works of the city.

Keeping in mind the convenience of the citizens, the administration has also made an important announcement. However, there is a strong message hidden with this feature.

Counters will remain open even on holidays

The Municipal Corporation has made special arrangements so that citizens do not face any problem in depositing the outstanding taxes. Revenue counters in all the 10 zone offices of the corporation will remain open continuously from March 26 to March 31. This facility will be available even on government holidays, so that people can deposit taxes as per their convenience. The corporation has appealed to the citizens to ensure their payment on time to avoid the last days rush.

Emphasis on digital payments

Apart from making payment at the counter, the Municipal Corporation is also promoting digital payment. Citizens can easily deposit their property tax even sitting at home. For this, they can use the corporation’s ‘More Raipur’ mobile application or can complete the online payment process by visiting the official website of the corporation. This option not only saves time, but also simplifies the process.

Heavy surcharge will be imposed on delay

The Revenue Department of the Municipal Corporation has clarified that no relaxation will be given after the last date of March 31. Any taxpayer who does not deposit his dues by this date will have to pay a surcharge of up to 17 percent as per rules. After this, the recovery process will be intensified, which will also include legal action. The aim of the Corporation is to ensure that all dues are deposited into the Government treasury on time.
