Strict action taken if irregularities are found in e-POS based distribution

Raipur News: Under the Public Distribution System, at present food grains are being distributed to ration card holders after Aadhaar based authentication through e-POS machines. Beneficiaries to get their ration undergo biometric verification to pick up the material, which ensures transparency and accountability. Through this system, it is the priority of the state government to supply food grains only to the genuine beneficiaries.

A team of officers has been constituted by the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection for regular monitoring of fair price shops. Inspection and investigation work of various fair price shops was done by these teams. During the inspection, the distribution process, record maintenance and status of Aadhaar authentication were specifically examined.

During investigation, irregularities were found in some fair price shops. Taking the irregularities seriously, strict action has been taken against the concerned shop operators as per the regulatory provisions. The intention of the government is not to tolerate any kind of negligence or irregularity in the public distribution system.

Food Controller, District Raipur has canceled the right to operate shops from ID number 441001314 “Maa Bhagwati Food Safety Nutrition and Consumer Cooperative Society, Baron Bazar” and ID number 441001256 “Shri Jai Shitala Kali Food Safety Nutrition and Consumer Service Cooperative Society, Carpenter Para” and attached them to other fair price shops. Apart from this, ID number 441001148 “Dudhadhari Mahila Primary Cooperative Consumer Store, Mahamaya Mandir Ward No. 62” has been issued a strict warning by imposing a fine of ₹ 7000 if any irregularity is found.

Food Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that if any irregularity is found in the distribution of food grains in any fair price shop of the state under the Public Distribution System, strict and necessary action is taken under the provisions of Chhattisgarh Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2016. The state government is fully committed to a transparent, accountable and beneficiary-centric food grain distribution system.
