Raipur T20 storm: India broke records after records, Pakistan’s figures also collapsed

On the basis of stormy half-centuries of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, Team India chased this score in just 15.2 overs. India took 15.2 overs to chase the target of 209 against New Zealand. This is the third fastest 200+ chase in terms of overs in T20I. This chase by India is the fastest by any full-member team. India has broken the world record of Pakistan, which had chased 205 runs in 16 overs against New Zealand last year.
This is the second time in this series against New Zealand that Team India has scored more than 200 runs after losing two quick wickets. This had never happened before in the history of Indian T20 cricket. After 27/2 in the first T20, India added 211 runs, while in the second T20, after 6/2, India added 203 runs.
India’s chase of 209 runs is the biggest chase in T20I, when two wickets of the team have fallen for less than ten runs. Before him, only one team had been able to successfully chase a target of more than 200 in this situation. Suryakumar has scored more than fifty runs 10 times in chases of more than 200 in all T20s, which is jointly the most for any batsman. Jos Buttler, David Warner and Reeza Hendricks also have scores of more than ten fifty. Whereas Suryakumar has scored more than fifty runs 4 times in six target chases of more than 200 in T20Is. Only Hendricks (six) and Babar Azam (five) have more such scores than him.
Before scoring 82 runs not out against New Zealand, Suryakumar Yadav had not scored a fifty in 23 consecutive innings in T20I. His last fifty in this format came against Bangladesh in October 2024. During this period, Suryakumar had batted in the top four in all those 23 innings. This is the second longest streak by an Indian batsman without a fifty-plus score while batting in the top four in men’s T20Is. Rishabh Pant is on top with 34 innings.
