Rajasthan: Former BJP MP Sukhbir Singh refused to give blankets to Muslim women, said – ‘The one who abuses Modi has no right to take it’

Jaipur, 23 February. Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP in Rajasthan, Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria, is accused of refusing to give blankets to Muslim women during a donation drive. The former MP took back the blanket from the Muslim women saying that ‘those who abuse Modi have no right to take the blanket.’

In a video viral on social media, Sukhbir Singh can be heard saying, ‘Listen to me, people who abuse (Prime Minister) Modi have no right to take (the blanket). If you feel bad, I can’t do anything.

Sukaran Khan, one of the women who did not receive a blanket, said while talking to the media, the BJP leader felt bad after hearing a Muslim name. He was giving blankets to everyone. But suddenly, he asked his staff to ask our names. We told them our names. He felt bad because we are Muslims. They immediately took back our blankets.

Although the BJP leader’s video was edited, Congress MP Harish Chandra Meena shared its uncut version. In the video, the BJP leader is seen asking the names of the women, and when he learns that they are Muslims, he asks his colleagues not to give them blankets.

Harish Chandra Meena wrote in a post, ‘The treatment of Muslim fasting women by former MP Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuriya at the temple of God in village Kareda Buduj of Niwai assembly of Tonk district is not only condemnable but is the result of disruptive thinking that is destroying the social fabric of this country.’

In the viral video, Jaunpuriya is seen asking the women to leave from there and saying that he does not care if the women feel ‘bad’. BJP has not yet commented on this matter.

The former MP from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur can be heard saying, ‘It doesn’t matter if you feel bad. They will take the blanket and later boast that they fooled us. Why are you arguing? There is no need for any debate. This is not a government scheme. This is a personal arrangement.

In the uncut version of the video, some people confronted the former MP for refusing to give blankets to Muslim women. They can be seen telling him that the women were waiting for hours, following which they were asked to leave empty-handed, to which Singh replied that he did not want to argue before leaving the spot.
