A big relief news has come to the fore for the passengers dependent on public transport in Rajasthan. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has once again started bus services on long-closed rural routes.

Rajasthan Roadways: There is relief news for the travelers in Rajasthan. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) has once again started bus services on long-closed rural routes. After getting better than expected passenger load on these routes, the Roadways Administration has now started preparations to connect about 10 more villages of Jodhpur district with the city, which is expected to provide great convenience to the people of rural areas in their transportation.

Bus service returned to rural routes

In the last few years, due to economic reasons and low passenger load, operation of roadways buses on many rural routes of Rajasthan was stopped. Due to this, people living in villages were facing a lot of difficulty in reaching the city. Now, as per the initiative of the state government and the strategy of the roadways administration, buses have started running on these routes again.

At present, bus service has been started on five rural routes in Jodhpur district. The number of passengers on these routes has been higher than expected, which has given confidence to the roadways to continue operating.

Preparation to add 10 new villages

According to roadways officials, new demands are continuously coming from rural areas. Keeping this in view, a proposal for new routes is being prepared to connect about 10 additional villages of Jodhpur district to the city. This proposal will soon be sent to the Roadways Headquarters. After getting the approval, direct bus service can be started from these villages to Jodhpur city. This step will prove to be extremely useful for students, employees, businessmen and patients of rural areas who have to commute to the city daily.

It was planned to start bus service on a total of eight rural routes in Jodhpur district. After getting approval from the Chief Minister level, at present buses have been started on five routes. Final permission and technical preparations are still awaited for bus operation on the remaining three routes. Roadways administration says that as soon as the formalities related to the remaining routes are completed, bus service will be started there also.

Buses are running on PPP model

Under the budget announcement of the state government, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model has been adopted to connect rural areas with transportation facilities. Under this model, buses are being operated under the supervision of roadways with private participation. The buses plying on these rural routes are painted saffron and are being operated from the Roadways Bus Stand, providing both identity and convenience to the passengers.

Passengers traveling in these bus services of RSRTC will get the benefit of all government concessions on roadways. This also includes discounts given to students, senior citizens and special categories. The concessional amount will be paid by the roadways, which will not put additional burden on the passengers.
