IPL News: Rajasthan Royals sold, Arizona industrialist bought it for Rs 15286 crore

Rajasthan Royals New Owners: Just before the start of IPL 2026, Kaal Somani has acquired Rajasthan Royals for US $ 1.6 billion i.e. Rs 15286 crore. The current shareholder of the franchise, Kal Somani, has bought this Jaipur team for approximately $ 1.6 billion. Times Group, which was also in the race, came second in the bidding race.

Actually, Kal Somani will lead a group which also includes Walmart. His group has bought 100 percent stake in Royals. The Royals are one of the initial eight franchises of the IPL. It is expected that after the 2026 season, he will take over the command of the team from UK-based Manoj Badale (Emerging Media). Kal Somani, a resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, is over 50 years old.

Apart from cricket, Somani is also interested in golf. He is one of the founders of ‘Motor City Golf Club’. The club has an association with golf legend Tiger Woods. His son Arjun Somani is a rising talent in the US junior circuit. Somani is interested in many fields from studies to sports. He is also the founder of many companies.
