Understand the whole story in 5 points
1. Based on the performance of IPL 2026, T20 Team India was selected for the Asian Games 2026. Suryakumar Yadav’s season was not good, so along with his removal from the captaincy, he was also dropped from the team and the captaincy was handed over to Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer. Not a single RCB player has been selected in the team.
2. RCB captain Rajat Patidar played an important role in making the team champion with his amazing captaincy as well as his batting. In 15 matches, Rajat scored 501 runs at a strike rate of 192.69. Which included 5 half-centuries. Patidar has scored these runs while batting in the middle order, which no other batsman has been able to do with this strike rate this season. But still he was not included in the team.
3. IPL 2026 was amazing for RCB’s veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. While on one hand there was a fierce bowling attack, on the other hand Bhuvneshwar troubled the batsmen with his swing and accurate yorkers. The purple cap remained on his head for a long time during the tournament, but in the end he missed 1 wicket. This season Bhuvi took 28 wickets with less than 8 economy. Still he did not get a chance.
4. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said on the team selection, “We discussed many players. We feel that these 15 players are eligible. There are very good players in India. There are many players who can easily make a place in the team, but the players who are playing are performing to their full potential. We feel that we have selected a good team.”
5. Harbhajan Singh also looked angry when Rajat Patidar did not get a place in the team. He shared the post on X and wrote that the absence of Rajat Patidar in the Indian team is sad. What else should they do? He scored 501 runs, the strike rate was around 200. Injustice is undoubtedly India’s best middle order batsman. “A brilliant striker with excellent technique.”
