Rajya Sabha elections: BJP announced names of 9 candidates including Nitin Nabin

New Delhi, March 3. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced the names of nine Rajya Sabha candidates. The name of the party’s national president Nitin Nabin, who has been made the candidate from Bihar, is also included in this list.

In a release issued by BJP’s National General Secretary and Headquarters in-charge Arun Singh, it has been informed that the Central Election Committee has given its approval on the following names for the biennial elections of Rajya Sabha to be held in various states, in which Nitin Nabin and Shivesh Kumar have been made candidates from Bihar. Terash Gowala and Jogen Mohan from Assam, Manmohan Samal and Sujit Kumar from Odisha, Lakshmi Verma from Chhattisgarh, Sanjay Bhatia from Haryana and Rahul Sinha from West Bengal have been made candidates.

Only one day left in the nomination process

It is noteworthy that only one day is left in the nomination process for Rajya Sabha elections. Elections are to be held on 37 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states including Bihar on March 16. Of these, voting will be held for seven seats in Maharashtra, six in Tamil Nadu, five each in Bihar and West Bengal, four in Odisha, three in Assam, two each in Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Haryana and one seat in Himachal Pradesh.

Notification for five seats of Bihar was released on 26 February. The last date for nomination is March 5. Since March 3 and 4 are Holi holidays, only March 5 is left for nomination. The five members from Bihar whose tenure is ending in April include Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, Union Ministers Ramnath Thakur, Premchandra Gupta, Amarendra Dhari Singh and Upendra Kushwaha.
