Rajya Sabha meetings will not be held on March 19 and 20, the government took the decision for this reason
Holiday in the RS on 19 and 20 March : The Central Government has accepted the request of not holding House meetings on March 19-20 due to festivals. Some members of the Upper House had requested that it would not be appropriate to hold meetings during festivals. Chairman CP Radhakrishnan gave this information to the members on Monday. Rajya Sabha will also work on the weekend of March 28-29.

Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan told members in the House on Monday that during the Business Advisory Committee meeting held on March 11, 2026, some members had suggested that in view of several festivals like Navratri, Gudi Padwa, Ramzan starting from March 19, it would not be appropriate to hold the meetings of the House. Radhakrishnan said, “I wish to inform the members that the request made in this regard has been positively considered by the government. Accordingly, the sittings of the House scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026 and Friday, March 20, 2026 are cancelled.”
Vice President Radhakrishnan said, “However, to compensate for the time lost, the Council will instead meet on Saturday, 28 March 2026 and Sunday, 29 March 2026. Members may please take note of this.”
