New Delhi:In the acting world, there are some actors who leave their own mark in every era and one of them is Rakesh Bedi, who is making huge headlines these days for his character Jameel Jamali in the film Dhurandhar 2. His style of dialogue delivery is becoming increasingly viral on social media and the audience has once again become convinced of his acting.
An old incident related to Shriram Center for Art and Culture of Delhi still gives an example of his talent. During a play, there was a sudden power outage and there was an uproar in the audience, but in the same darkness, Rakesh Bedi came on stage and captivated the audience with the magic of his voice. Without light for about twenty minutes, he created such an atmosphere that when the power returned, the entire hall echoed with applause. This incident shows his natural acting skills.
His father dreamed of becoming an engineer but Rakesh Bedi was engrossed in acting since childhood. He also appeared for the IIT Delhi exam but left the exam hall within a few minutes as he was inclined towards arts. After this he studied acting from the Film and Television Institute of India where his classmates were stalwarts like Om Puri.
Rakesh Bedi, who started his career in theatre, gradually made his mark in television and films. Popular serials like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Shriman Shrimati, Yes Boss and Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain made her a household name.
He also played many memorable roles in films but the character of ‘Omi’ from the film Chashme Baddoor proved to be the turning point of his career. The director of this film, Sai Paranjpe, had cast him only after seeing his gait, which was later liked by the audience.
In recent times, Rakesh Bedi’s name has come up in some controversies but he always expressed his views openly. Despite this, the appreciation of his work did not diminish and his character in the film Dhurandhar 2 once again proved what a versatile artist he is.
Apart from acting, Rakesh Bedi is also fond of literature and poetry. He writes ghazals and poems and often participates in mushairas. He is inspired by Charlie Chaplin and considers Johnny Walker, Sanjeev Kumar and Mehmood as his idols.
Today, the story of Rakesh Bedi tells that if the passion is true then the path will be created by itself. His decision to leave the path of engineering and choose acting brought him to the point where today his name has become synonymous with respect and talent.
