Rakesh Roshan is gearing up for the re-release of his hit 1995 directorial Karan Arjun. Speaking with Hindustan TimesRakesh revealed he is nervous to see how the new generation will respond to the classic, that will celebrate its 30th anniversary in January.
“The re-release is an experiment for me as a filmmaker. I’m nervous, because I’m presenting my film to a new generation, and curious to know what the reactions will be because the fate of the re-release will only help me gauge the mindset of the current generation of cine-goers.”

When asked about his casting choice in selecting big names like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman KhanRakesh said, “I knew Shah Rukh was a hardworking and dedicated actor, having worked with him on King Uncle. I had him in mind while writing Arjun.”
Rakesh said that Salman’s characteristics were synonymous to Karan’s. “He has very deep, expressive eyes. It was something the character of Karan needed, being a man of few words.”
Karan Arjun had a star studded cast. Alongside the two Khan’s, Kajol, Mamta Kulkarni, Rakhee Gulzar, and Amrish Puri also starred in the film. “I made sure the characters were balanced equally, from their songs to action scenes. I weaved my script from an actor’s perspective so that no one on my cast would have objections,” Rakesh said.
Karan Arjun will make a return to the big screens on November 22.
