Mumbai Mumbai. An old interview of Rakul Preet Singh, in which she shared her opinion on firecrackers, is now going viral on social media. A few years ago, the actress had shared that when she was younger, her father used to punish her for bursting crackers, which is why she has given up the habit of bursting crackers. However, now the actress is being trolled for her confession.
In an old interview, Rakul Preet Singh shared why she should avoid bursting crackers on Diwali. The actress shared that she used to take part in this Diwali tradition, but her father stopped her from doing so. She admitted that her father gave her a strange punishment, which made Rakul realize her mistake.
Speaking to Dainik Jagran, Rakul recalled, “It was a memorable Diwali. My father gave me a Rs 500 note and asked me to burn it. I was shocked and asked him why he was asking me to do this. He told me, 'But that's exactly what you're doing. You are buying firecrackers and burning them. What if you buy some chocolates with the money and give it to the needy?” She further said, “I must have been a girl of about 9 or 10 years old at that time. I remember we went to a sweet shop, bought sweets and distributed them among the homeless people. I felt a different kind of happiness that day and since then I have never burst crackers.” As soon as this interview resurfaced online, social media users shared their opinions on the matter. With Diwali approaching, netizens argued that Bursting crackers is an essential part of the festival and should not be avoided, other supporters claimed, adding that there are other ways of charity that Rakul Preet Singh can adopt.
