Stormy start of ‘Peddi’ at the box office, second day’s earnings surprised

Even before its official release, ‘Peddi’ had shown its strong intentions by collecting ₹18 crore 50 lakh at the Indian box office through its paid preview shows. After this the film earned an impressive nett of ₹51 crore on its first day. However, on the second day i.e. Friday, there was a huge decline in the film’s collection. On the second day, the film did a business of approximately ₹26 crore 90 lakh in the domestic market. The film’s earnings graph has dropped by about 47% on Friday as compared to Thursday, which is believed to be the effect of negative reviews and initial bad reactions received by the film critics. Despite this, the film’s Indian gross collection reached ₹114 crore 49 lakh (net collection: ₹96.40 crore) by the end of two days.

After the global success of Ram Charan’s ‘RRR’, he has got a strong fan following in foreign countries, which is directly benefiting ‘Peddi’. Talking about the overseas collection of the film, on the second day of its release the movie did a business of ₹8 crore from abroad. With this, the total foreign earnings of the film has crossed ₹36 crore in just two days. If the gross collection of both Indian and foreign markets is combined, the total worldwide box office collection of ‘Peddi’ has become ₹ 150 crore 49 lakh.

Huge budget of ₹350 crore, challenging days for the makers?

In terms of earnings, this magical figure of ₹ 150 crores looks very attractive and historic at first glance, but it is too early for the makers of the film to celebrate. Actually, the total budget of this film is said to be around ₹350 crores. In such a situation, the rapid decline in the film’s earnings graph on Friday is enough to draw lines of worry on the forehead of the makers. Now all eyes are on the weekend collection of Saturday and Sunday, which will make it clear whether the film is able to maintain its strong hold at the box office or not.
