Ram Mandir Donation Theft: 70 incidents in 40 days, Anukalp-Lavkush’s alleged master plan stuns investigators!
Ayodhya: The investigation into alleged theft from donation boxes at the Ram Mandir has taken a significant turn after CCTV footage reportedly revealed a series of coordinated incidents inside the temple complex.
According to investigators, members of a group allegedly targeted cash offered by devotees and carried out nearly 70 thefts within 40 days. The Special Investigation Team and police are examining how the money was removed despite surveillance and security arrangements.

CCTV footage exposes repeated thefts
Investigators reportedly reviewed CCTV recordings and found that one accused, identified as Avinash Shukla, was allegedly involved in around 50 of the 70 incidents. Police claim he played a central role in collecting the stolen cash.
Whenever Shukla allegedly removed money, other members of the group would stand around him to block the view of visitors and security personnel. Investigators described this coordinated formation as a “human shield”.
Alleged Roles Assigned to Group Members
Police suspect that Anukul Mishra and Lavkush Mishra planned the thefts and decided when and how the donation money would be targeted. Manoj and Ramshankar were allegedly involved in handling and distributing the stolen cash.
The suspects are believed to have posed as devotees and temple cleaning workers to avoid suspicion. This allegedly allowed them to remain near the donation areas without attracting immediate attention.

Theft Allegedly Occurred Several Times a Day
The investigation suggests that cash was stolen at least twice daily and, on some occasions, up to three times. Authorities believe the operation continued for several weeks before CCTV analysis revealed the pattern.
SIT Probe Nears Final Stage
The SIT is now preparing a detailed report based on video evidence, questioning and other material collected during the inquiry. Police are also working to strengthen the legal case so that evidence can be presented effectively before the court.
Officials have said accountability will be determined only after the investigation is completed and the final report is submitted.
