New Delhi: Attention 90s kids! It is time for nostalgia to hit harder than ever, as one of your favourite childhood memories is all set to take the silver screen by storm. Yes, you guessed it right! Here, we are talking about Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. You will be amazed to know that the 1993 Japanese-Indian anime film is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 24, 2025.
The joyous announcement was made by the makers through an Instagram post, leaving moviegoers buzzing with excitement. “Is this really happening? We have been waiting for this for so long,” commented a user on the popular photo-sharing platform. Another added, “The only Ramayana that is better than all others ever made in Bollywood.”

The trailer for the much-anticipated movie is expected to drop on Friday (January 10, 2025). Interestingly, the film will reportedly be released with new dubs in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages, alongside its original English version, in stunning 4K format.
According to PTI, Arun Govil lent his voice to the character of Lord Ram, Namrata Sawhney voice-starred as Goddess Sita, and the late Amrish Puri brought Raavan to life in its earlier Hindi version. Also, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha served as the narrator. Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama has been directed by Ram Mohan and Koichi Sasaki.

The news agency further stated that renowned screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad, of Baahubali fame, has overseen the creative adaptation of the new versions of the film. Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama became a sensation among Indian cinema lovers during its re-runs on television channels in the early 2000s, with its music and songs taking centerstage. It is to be noted that tickets for the film are not available on BookMyShow yet. Bookings are likely to open in the coming days.
