These days, there is a huge buzz in the corridors of Bollywood about Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna starrer film ‘Cocktail 2’. This film has already hit the theatres, but with its release the audience has been reminded of the original ‘Cocktail’ released in 2012. The classic cult rom-com film starring Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Diana Penty changed the definition of modern relationships. Meanwhile, an old interview of the film’s lead actor Saif Ali Khan is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which he has made such a shocking revelation that everyone is stunned to hear it. Saif told that he was not the first choice of the makers for this superhit film. Deepika and Diana were the finalists, but the makers were struggling to find the hero. Saif Ali Khan, in a recent interview given to Variety India, while reliving the memories of the past, said that when the script of the film was prepared in the year 2012, the names of Deepika Padukone (Veronica) and Diana Penty (Meera) were already locked as the female leads. But trouble started when the film’s director Homi Adajania and the casting team were unable to find a lead actor for the film. Many big stars were hesitant to play the character of ‘Gautam’ who was trapped between two ladies on screen. Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan had rejected the offer, Saif said – ‘Everyone will be grateful to me’. During the interview, Saif Ali Khan revealed those big names of Bollywood who had flatly refused to do this film with Deepika Padukone. Saif said laughingly- "I remember very well that before coming to me, the makers had offered this role to Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Apart from these two, the team had also contacted some other actors of the industry, but things did not work out. Finally, tired and exhausted, he came to me and as soon as I heard the script, I said, okay, I will do this role. I think they all would be very grateful to me today that I accepted this film."

The experience of working with director Homi Adajania was great. Saif Ali Khan further said that he was very happy to be a part of this film. He said- "I really enjoyed doing this film because I love the director of the film, Homi Adajania, and respect his work. We all had a lot of fun during the shooting of this movie in London." Let us tell you that ‘Cocktail’, released in the year 2012, proved to be one of the biggest blockbuster films of Saif Ali Khan’s career and its songs and the chemistry of Saif-Deepika created a stir at the box office. Now after years, on the occasion of the release of ‘Cocktail 2’, this statement of Saif has become a topic of discussion among the fans.
