Range Rover GT EV unveiled— Luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has unveiled the global curtain on the prototype of its new Range Rover GT. This is the brand’s first all-new nameplate after the Velar launched in 2017. The company has designed it as a fully electric Fastback Grand Tourer, which reshapes the traditional rules of design and power of Range Rover.

Coupe-like sleek profile and strong aerodynamics

In contrast to the traditional SUV shape, the Range Rover GT is designed with a lower ride-height and sloping roofline (coupe style). To make long distance traveling comfortable, it has been given an aerodynamic body. However, the company claims that despite the lower frame, the car will retain the brand’s signature all-wheel-drive performance on all types of roads and difficult weather conditions.

First all-electric car based on EMA platform

This model is the first vehicle to be built on JLR’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. This platform is primarily designed for all-electric powertrain. It will have 800-volt fast charging technology and dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. In the initial phase, it will be launched only as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), while hybrid option may also be included later.

When will it be launched and what will be the price?

The company will manufacture this model at the Halewood plant in Britain. Its official production is expected to start in early 2027. After strengthening its hold in the global market, it can also be launched in the Indian market through the CBU route. In the luxury EV segment, it will directly compete with the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.
