Amish Tripathi’s big revelation on Ranveer Singh’s ‘Shiva Trilogy’ film, rights deal is fake

There was talk of making a film on famous writer Amish Tripathi’s famous novel ‘Shiva Trilogy 1: The Immortals of Meluha’. There was news that actor Ranveer Singh is going to play the role of Lord Shiva in this project. But now Amish Tripathi has clearly rejected these reports. Ranveer Singh, reacting immediately to the news that came out on May 11, on Tuesday termed these claims as completely false.

He also clarified that he had not bought the film rights of the novel by paying huge amount. On May 12, ‘Variety India’ published Amish Tripathi’s statement. The writer said, ‘The rights of Shiva Trilogy are still with me. No agreement has been reached with any company or person yet. I respect Ranveer Singh a lot and am also his big fan, but this news is not true at all.

What was the claim?

Earlier on May 11, Pinkvilla had published a report. It was claimed in the report that Ranveer Singh had secretly acquired the rights of ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ by paying a huge amount. It was also said in the news that the actor is making this mythological story as a Grand Trilogy in collaboration with Aditya Birla’s Birla Studios. Quoting sources, it was also told that the script of the film is currently being written and the shooting of the first film may start in 2028.

What is ‘The Immortals of Meluhha’?

‘The Immortals of Meluha’ is the first part of Amish Tripathi’s Shiva Trilogy. This story is from around 1900 BC. It depicts Lord Shiva as a Tibetan immigrant who arrives in a highly developed and almost perfect kingdom called Meluhha. There he is considered ‘Neelkanth’. Savior according to an ancient prophecy. They get the responsibility of fighting the Chandravanshis and protecting the land from evil snakes. This series combines Indian mythology and fantasy in a very interesting way, due to which it became very popular among young readers.

Attempts have already been made

Efforts have already been made to bring ‘Shiva Trilogy’ to the big screen. In the year 2012, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions had announced to start work on it. At that time there was a rumor that the name of the film would be ‘Shuddhi’ and it would be directed by Karan Malhotra. However, it was later clarified that both the projects were different. During that time, Amish Tripathi had also told that a Hollywood producer has also taken the rights for the American version. After some time, news came that Karan Malhotra is writing the script and Amish himself is associated as a creative advisor. But in May 2017, Dharma Productions pulled out of the project after its rights agreement expired.
