Rapid attacks on Iran, war flares up in West Asia
Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, Israel has started retaliating against Iran on a large scale. According to media reports, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) on Monday launched a new wave of fresh attacks on Iranian military bases and infrastructure in several areas including Tehran.
The IDF said in its statement that it had launched a wide-ranging strike targeting “the military infrastructure of the Iranian terrorist regime.” Earlier, Iran had launched a ballistic missile attack on central Israel, which caused damage at many places, although there was no news of any casualties.
According to the Israeli army, several important Iranian targets were targeted in the attacks. These include soldiers’ training centers, missile storage bases, weapons production centers associated with the Defense Ministry, IRGC Air Force bases, Intelligence Ministry headquarters and the Emergency Headquarters of the Internal Security Forces.
The missile attack by Iran on Sunday used cluster munitions, damaging several homes and roads in central Israel, according to reports. Fires were also reported in residential areas in Jaffa and Petah Tikva, although there were no reports of serious injuries.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has also claimed to have launched two ballistic missiles, one of which was shot down in the air by the air defense system, while the other fell in a deserted area. A missile was also intercepted in UAE capital Abu Dhabi, but an Indian citizen suffered minor injuries due to falling debris.
America has also intensified its action in this conflict. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Iran’s Qom-based turbine engine production plant, which was used to make drones and aircraft parts, has been destroyed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has clearly said that America and Israel together will continue to take strict action against Iran. The threat of a major war across West Asia is deepening amid increasing attacks.
