Rashid Khan declined India Citizenship: Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has made an important revelation. He told that he had received an offer to play cricket from India, along with which the offer of Indian citizenship was also included. However, he did not accept this offer.
Rashid also said that not only India, but Australia had also offered him citizenship and to play for their team. Despite this, he put his country Afghanistan above all these offers and decided to play for it.
Got offer during IPL
The 27-year-old spinner has made these revelations in his upcoming book “Rashid Khan: Road to Stardom”. He told that he had received India’s offer when he was a part of Gujarat Titans in IPL.
According to Rashid, a team official told him that a senior BCCI official wanted to meet him. During the meeting, it was suggested to him that considering the situation in Afghanistan, he should settle in India, where he would be given necessary documents and he could also play cricket here.
Rashid had rejected the offer
He said that he was surprised at first to hear this, but later he politely refused with a smile. Rashid replied that thanks for the offer, but he wants to continue playing for his country Afghanistan.
Demand was also raised on social media
25-year-old Rashid Khan also recalled a special incident from 2018, when he was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. After his match-winning performance against Kolkata, there was a demand on social media in India to grant him citizenship, which shows the deep respect people have for him.

Even outside the field, Rashid shared an emotional moment. He informed about the birth of his son through social media and named him Azlan Khan. Along with the announcement, she also shared an adorable picture of her newborn son on a wooden plank with the words, “Hello world, my name is Azlan Khan.”
