Rashmika, Vijay attend Allu Sirish’s Pelli Koduku

Hyderabad: Newlyweds Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda attended the traditional Pelli Koduku ceremony of Allu Sirish, brother of Allu Arjun, at the Allu family residence on Sunday. The intimate ceremony marked the beginning of the wedding festivities ahead of Sirish’s marriage to Nayanika Reddy on March 6.

The event saw the presence of close family members and industry friends, including Ram Charan and Upasana Konidela, adding star power to the celebrations.

Significance of the Pelli Koduku ritual

The Pelli Koduku ceremony is an important pre-wedding ritual in Telugu weddings, observed on the groom’s side. The day traditionally begins with the mangala snanam, a sacred ceremonial bath symbolising purification and blessings before the wedding.

During the ritual, the groom is anointed with turmeric and sandalwood paste by family elders. The practice is believed to cleanse the body and soul while marking the groom’s transition into married life. Visuals from the ceremony showed Allu Sirish participating in the rituals with folded hands as elders blessed him.

The Allu family residence was decorated with traditional floral arrangements, mango leaves and vibrant rangolis, reflecting the festive spirit. The gathering maintained a close-knit and cultural ambience, in keeping with Telugu wedding traditions.

Rashmika and Vijay’s presence draws attention

Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda, who recently tied the knot, were seen greeting members of the Allu family and participating in the rituals. The couple’s appearance at the ceremony quickly went viral on social media platforms, with fans sharing pictures and videos from the event.

For the occasion, Rashmika chose a golden saree paired with a green silk blouse. She accessorised her look with sleek gold jewellery, subtle dewy makeup and a traditional gajra adorning her hairstyle. Vijay complemented her look in a white kurta paired with beige trousers and a red shawl draped around his shoulders.

Their coordinated traditional attire and affectionate gestures toward family members were widely appreciated by fans online.

Tirupati visit and sweet distribution

Before attending the pre-wedding festivities, the couple reportedly sought blessings at the Tirupati Tirumala temple. Following their visit, sweets were distributed among devotees and fans as a gesture of gratitude and celebration.

Reports indicate that sweets were also distributed in several cities across India, including Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Delhi, Chandigarh, Noida, Ghaziabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Puttaparthi, Kochi, Mysuru, Coorg, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Chennai and Puducherry at various temples.
