'Ravan' Saif Ali Khan upset with the criticism of Adipurush, said – 'Need to stay away from religion'

New Delhi: The mythological film Adipurush directed by Om Raut was one of the most talked about films of 2023. There was a lot of discussion about this film before its release, but after its release it started getting criticized. People expressed their displeasure over the scenes, dialogues and characters of the film.

Not only this, a lawyer had filed a case in UP against Saif Ali Khan and director Om Raut for playing the role of Ravana in Adipurush and accused them of hurting religious sentiments. Now Saif Ali Khan has broken his silence on these controversies and said that it is better to stay away from films related to religion.

Saif Ali Khan speaks on criticism of Adipurush

Saif Ali Khan has learned a lot from Adipurush. Due to being surrounded by controversies, he has decided to stay away from films like Dharma. He said in an interview to India Today, “There was a case and the court had taken some decisions in which it was said that an actor is responsible for what he says on screen. I know many people are not free to say or do whatever they want. We all need to exercise some patience and be a little careful. Otherwise there could be trouble.”

Saif Ali Khan spoke on sensitive films

Saif Ali Khan said that there is a need to show sensitivity while making a film on a subject like religion. The Deora actor said, “There are certain areas like religion that you need to stay away from. We are not here to create trouble.” Saif said that there was a lot of criticism regarding the Tandav series, which further shaped his understanding.

Saif Ali Khan's film Devra Part 1 has been released in theaters on 27th September. In this film he is playing the negative character of Bhaira. The film stars Junior NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.
