New Delhi: Rishabh Pant's performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia was nothing special, especially in the first two matches. Ravi Ashwin says, “Rishabh Pant has all the shots like reverse sweep, slog sweep and many more. However, these shots have more risk, which increases the risk of getting out. I believe that Pant can hit the ball in every innings. Can score a century, provided he plays up to 200 balls, but the question is how he will handle himself.” Ashwin also said that the best approach for batsmen like Pant is to take the middle path, i.e. minimize risky shots. Along with this, Ashwin praised Pant's innings in the Sydney Test.

In the first innings of the Sydney Test, Pant scored 40 runs in 98 balls, but in the second innings he showed a change in his batting. In this innings, Pant scored 61 runs in just 33 balls. However, the Indian team had to face defeat in this test and Australia won by 6 wickets. With this, Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1, which was their win after almost 10 years.
