Ravindra Jadeja Takes 2 Quick Wickets On Day3

Ravindra Jadeja Takes 2 Quick Wickets On Day3: After getting behind in the game on day 2, which included them getting bowled out for their third-lowest total in Test cricket, India started day 3 of the IND vs NZ Bengaluru Test on a positive note, with the bowlers getting wickets regularly.

New Zealand started the day with a lead of 134 runs and 7 wickets in hand. But the Indian bowlers stepped up to the occasion, despite the conditions not being anywhere near as favorable as it was in the first session yesterday.

First, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah struck with the wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell, both edging to the slip cordon. Then left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja got into the act.

With the pitch offering some grip and turn, Jadeja bamboozled Glenn Phillips and Matt Henry, beating both batsmen on their inside edges and rattling the stumps.

Jadeja made the ball talk with a subtle turn away from Phillips. With the batsman now expecting the ball to turn away, Jadeja slipped in a straighter delivery that went on with the angle. Phillips played the wrong line – anticipating the ball to turn away – and was beaten on the inside edge in his backfoot defensive shot before hearing the noise of the stumps being disturbed. With a disappointed and befuddled expression, he walked away.

Henry was more of a walking wicket as he tried to slog Jadeja with no foot movement, missed the ball by a distance and it crashed into the sticks. These two wickets from Jadeja were what India needed after the pacers had taken two dismissals earlier.

Meanwhile, young Rachin Ravindra is showing a terrific fight against the Indian bowlers. He respected the pacers in the first hour and then attacked the spinners, particularly Kuldeep Yadav, not allowing the wrist-spinner to settle. Rachin has extended New Zealand’s lead to over 200 runs. Each and every run now is hurting India.
