Anarchy spread after elections in Jharkhand, Ravindra Rai said – BJP workers on target of JMM and Congress

Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday accused the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress of spreading anarchy in the state by allegedly attacking its workers after the assembly election results. State BJP working president Ravindra Rai alleged that people who worked for the BJP or voted for the party in the assembly elections were targeted and even people from the minority community were 'not spared'.

Rai claimed at a press conference here that a section of the minority community in Barhet, the assembly constituency of caretaker Chief Minister Hemant Soren, had worked for the BJP during the elections. Now they are being targeted and their houses are being pelted with stones. He alleged that BJP workers and supporters were attacked in Pakur, Rajmahal and other parts of the state.

Rai claimed, “In Baharagora and Chakulia, workers of the ruling coalition are spreading anarchy. JMM-Congress alliance should not make the mistake of turning Jharkhand into Bengal. Our leaders have lodged a complaint with the police, but the situation is still not under control. Rai said his party has appealed to the Jharkhand Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to take cognizance of the incidents of post-poll violence and take strict action against those trying to create unrest.

Meanwhile, state BJP chief Babulal Marandi met the family members of a party supporter whose house was allegedly pelted with stones in Barhet assembly constituency. “We are celebrating Constitution Day today,” Marandi alleged. Indian Constitution is the protective shield of democracy, but JMM and Congress are arrogant. They are attacking democracy. However, JMM and Congress denied BJP's allegations. In the recently concluded elections, Hemant Soren's JMM-led alliance won 56 seats in the 81-member assembly. BJP-led NDA reduced to 24 seats.(With agency inputs)
